Membership Categories and Dues

                       

For attorney members, dues are based on years admitted to practice in Oregon, which is determined by your Oregon State Bar Number. OTLA’s membership year runs from July 1st of the current year to June 30th of the following year.

Regular Membership (Voting)

Dues are based on years as an Oregon attorney based on your bar number:

New Admittees Free Membership for the first year
1-3 years $105
4-6 years $210
7-9 years $315
10-14 years $420
15 + years $525
Legal Aid Attorneys $80
 

To qualify for OTLA membership, you must be an attorney that is:

  1. in good standing with the Oregon State Bar;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system, and;
  4. does not, for the most part, represent the defense in personal injury, civil rights, employment, workers’ compensation or business tort litigation.

Legal Aid/Public Interest applications must meet the above criteria and be employed a legal aid program or a non-profit, non-governmental public interest legal program.

Associate Membership (non-voting)

Dues: $185 per year

For non-Oregon attorneys. Applicant must be:

  1. a member, in good standing, of any state bar other than Oregon and does not spend the majority of time practicing law in the state of Oregon;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system; and,
  4. does not, for the most part, represent the defense in personal injury, civil rights, employment, worker’s compensation or business tort litigation.

Public Agency Membership (non-voting)

Dues: $80 per year

For attorneys working in public or nonprofit agencies in Oregon. Applicant must be:

  1. a member, in good standing, of the Oregon State Bar and employed by a public agency;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system; and
  4. does not, for the most part represent the defense in personal injury, civil rights, employment, workers’ compensation or business tort litigation.

 

Legal Staff Membership (non-voting)

Dues: $80 per year

For legal assistants, paralegals, legal secretaries and legal researchers. Applicant must be:

  1. employed by an OTLA member;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system.

 

Emeritus Membership (non-voting)

Dues: FREE

Applicant must be:

  1. a former OTLA member, retired from the practice of law;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system.

 

Neutral Membership (non-voting)

Dues: $135 per year

For mediators and arbitrators. Applicant must be:

  1. full-time arbitrator, mediator or reference judge in the state of Oregon;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system.

 

Law Student/Law Professor Membership (non-voting)

Dues: FREE

Applicant must be:

  1. a law student or law professor in an accredited law school;
  2. of good moral character;
  3. committed to the principles of fundamental fairness, trial by jury and the civil justice system.
